Well it’s actually been almost a year since I last posted on here. I can’t believe it’s been that long, and for people who look at the site I apologize for not posting lol.

A lot has happened since the last post. I’ve seen changed routes a little on the S10, but it’s still somewhat the same. I’ve really expanded a lot with my tuning over the past year. In 2009 I had tuned I believe 35-40 cars/trucks to date, but in 2010 I did just over 90 cars/trucks in just a year. I didnt’ realize it until I went to do my regular backup and looked at all my directories. I’ve had a blast being able to tune all kinds of different setups, some of which were easy setups and some that challenged me greatly to get them perfect.

I’ve been a sponsor of HoustonPerformanceTrucks.com Forums and it’s been really great having a really focused localized forum that caters to the truck crowd. It seems like in Houston there really is more performance trucks than cars, which is funny on multiple levels. People out of state are probably thinking oh yeah it’s because they’re in Texas and they’re rednecks. Us locals find it funny because the look on someone’s face when they get rolled by a truck is priceless. It’s just a funny and empowering feeling knowing that you’re in a 5200lb. truck that goes to jobsites, picks up material, and on the way home can put a few lengths on a 3V GT with some mods. Some may just discount that, but I think it’s impressive.

On another note, the spring semester has begun. Yes, I’m finally graduating. Nope, don’t jump to conclusions I’m only getting my associates this May. I’ll be at UH Clear Lake in the fall, though. It’s been a long time coming working through life and figuring out exactly what I’m to do, but I’m on the right track and have been for a while now.

For those whom read this “blog” for automotive posts I due apologize for the little rant about what’s been going on but in all it has been quite some time since I last posted. Since I have quite a few other things rather organized in my life now and on a disciplined schedule I want to post more info on projects and other random things more often. I’ll have a pretty long post soon about the updates on the S10 which will be nice. Soon we’ll get the backhalf on there and it’ll actually look like something quick haha.

Until next time…

Well I’ve been quite busy lately with school and work so I haven’t been able to do much outside of that. I do have a few small updates on my 6.0/L92 project that I’ll post within a week or so once school is done for the semester. I’m pretty excited about getting this semester over with since it’s been a rather busy one. I’ve also decided to change my major to CIS (Computer Information Systems) and I will be transferring to UHCL pretty soon.

I’m actually typing this on my iPhone somewhere in the middle of Alabama on our way back from Tennessee visiting some family for Thanksgiving.

I hope to make a little progress on my S10 soon too. I’ll have a project post soon describing everything, but basically the 5.3 (LM7) that’s coming out of my Silverado will go into the S10. Once it’s all operational and inspected I’ll likely make it my daily driver since it will get better gas mileage than the Silverado and I’d like to roll around in something different for a while. The S10 might actually be faster too which would be nice. Anyways, much more to come soon once I’m on winter break.

A good buddy of mine Matt works on all kinds of vehicles specializing in 99-Present LSx based trucks doing anything from cam swaps, transmission installs, head swaps, header installs, LED swaps, and much much more.

Back in March I took a look at some of the LED stuff Matt was doing on a client’s gauge cluster and instantly thought that having blue LED’s in my truck would look pretty clean. The pictures below are from the clusters Matt did for SuperChargedSS of PerformanceTrucks.net

The itch got to me so finally we setup a time to do the install. There’s a rainbow of colors that are available for every type of vehicle. Some take much more time than others due to the use of surface-mount LEDs stock, but older models don’t utilize this type of LEDs making installation much quicker. I opted for the standard blue LED for all my controls and the cluster. I am very pleased with the results, and it gives my truck a unique look compared to others that I’ve seen. I’m sure soon everyone will have LEDs just like everyone has HIDs, but for now I’m one of the few at least haha.

Here’s another ’06 with the same LED swap done, but with the factory radio done as well.

For anyone interested in doing LED swaps in their trucks/cars I’ll list Matt’s contact info below. He posts regularly on LS1Tech.com and PerformanceTrucks.net as TooTall.
